Cyprus reports second drone attack on British base
02 March 2026 16:55
On March 1 afternoon, Cypriot authorities reported a second drone attack on the British Akrotiri airbase, government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis has said.
He said the drones were neutralised in time, per Cyprus Mail.
Earlier that same day, the base had already faced a security threat, prompting authorities to evacuate the village of Akrotiri. Other nearby settlements were not evacuated.
There were also unconfirmed reports of a possible evacuation of the Dekelia base in the east of the island, and sirens were heard at the U.S. embassy in Nicosia, reportedly linked to drone launches.
