Czech PM says Prague seeks Azerbaijani oil, gas transit via Ukraine
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has stated that his country aims to establish transit of Azerbaijani energy resources through Ukraine.
Answering questions from Azerbaijani journalists in Montenegro, he said the issue of transit was discussed in May during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Caliber.Az reports, citing Czech media.
“I asked President Zelenskyy whether Ukraine would allow the transit of Azerbaijani oil and gas. He replied that it is possible,” Babiš noted.
The prime minister stressed that Prague must fulfil its agreements with Baku on gas supplies.
He added that Azerbaijan is already one of the largest oil suppliers to the Czech Republic, and both sides are seeking to expand economic cooperation, including talks on establishing joint ventures.
