Czech Republic summons Russian ambassador over threatening statements
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic has summoned Russia’s ambassador to the Czech Republic, Alexander Zmeyevsky, following statements perceived as threats against Czech companies.
Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka requested explanations regarding remarks linked to a Russian publication identifying European drone manufacturers supplying Ukraine.
According to Radio Prague, on April 15, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation released a list of European drone producers involved in supplying Ukraine, including their addresses, and warned of “unpredictable consequences.”
Further escalation came from Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, who stated on social media that the companies mentioned could be considered potential targets for Russian strikes.
The list reportedly includes a Czech branch of the Ukrainian company DeVIRo, as well as PBS Group, both based in Prague.
The Russian defence ministry also claimed that drone production for Ukraine is taking place in London, Munich, and Riga, describing such activities as a step towards escalation and deeper European involvement in the conflict.
