Deadly bus crash in Nepal leaves 18 dead after plunge into Trishuli River
At least 18 people have lost their lives after a bus travelling from Pokhara to Kathmandu, Nepal, plunged into the Trishuli River in Dhading early on February 23.
The accident occurred at Chinadhara near Charaundi in ward 3 of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality at around 1:15 a.m. local time (00:15 Baku time), Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Shishir Thapa, chief of the District Traffic Police Office in Dhading, confirmed that the death toll has risen to 18.
Rajkumar Thakuri, chair of the Highway Rescue Management Committee, stated that 25 injured passengers have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. The bus was reportedly carrying more than 35 passengers.
Rescue operations involve personnel from the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and local residents. Authorities noted that the nighttime conditions have complicated the rescue efforts, and more information is expected as the operation continues.
