Deadly roof collapse in Afghanistan leaves nine dead
Heavy rainfall in eastern Afghanistan has claimed the lives of nine people over the past 24 hours due to collapsing roofs.
In Wardak province, a mother and her two children died, and two others were injured when the roof of their house collapsed on the night of April 5, the provincial police spokesman said, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
In Nangarhar province, at least six children were killed, and seven others were injured as mud-brick house roofs collapsed amid the ongoing downpours.
Over the past ten days, rainstorms and flash floods have caused nearly 100 fatalities and left more than 150 people injured across Afghanistan. The country’s meteorological department has warned of continued rainfall in several regions over the next 24 hours.
