Death toll in Gaza approaches 41,000
Gaza's Health Ministry has said that the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli military actions since the beginning of the operation in October 2023 is approaching 41,000.
“The number of fatalities resulting from Israeli actions in Gaza since October 2023 has risen to 40,972, with an additional 94,761 individuals injured. In the past 24 hours, 33 Palestinians were killed and 145 others were injured due to Israeli artillery strikes and bombings across various areas of Gaza,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following the incursion on October 7, 2023, when armed supporters of the Palestinian radical group Hamas breached Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. This attack involved the killing of residents in border towns and the capture of over 240 hostages. In response, Israel launched an operation in the enclave aimed at dismantling Hamas' military and political infrastructure and securing the release of all hostages. Fighting in the Gaza Strip has continued unabated since then.
