Defence chief: Israel attacked Iran's largest petrochemical plant.

06 April 2026 15:46

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have carried out a forceful strike on Iran's largest petrochemical facility.

According to the Clash Report, the attack, which targeted a key infrastructure site, has crippled about 50% of Iran's total petrochemical output.

“This is a significant blow to Iran's ability to produce petrochemical goods,” Katz stated. “We have targeted Iran’s largest petrochemical plant, and this follows a similar attack last week on their second-largest facility. Together, these plants accounted for 85% of Iran's petrochemical production.”

The attack, which has rendered both facilities non-operational, represents a multi-billion-dollar economic loss for the Iranian regime. Katz elaborated, “This strike is part of our continued strategy to weaken Iran’s economic and military capabilities.”

Minister Katz also made clear the Israeli government’s intention to sustain its operations against Iran’s national infrastructure.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu and I have given clear instructions to the IDF to continue high-intensity strikes on the Iranian regime’s vital infrastructure. This is not over,” he added.
