Defence chief: Patriot delivery to Ukraine to help protect Poland
Polish National Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak believes that the deployment of American and German Patriot air defence batteries in Ukraine will strengthen his country's security.
He made the remarks in his comment to Ukrinform, RBC-Ukraine reports.
According to him, the Patriot system minimizes the risk of a repeat of the situation that arose on November 15, 2022. Then a rocket fell in Przevodow near the Polish-Ukrainian border.
"The American and German Patriot systems, which will be delivered to Ukraine, will also strengthen the security of Poland. This minimizes the risk of such an event, which we dealt with on November 15 last year, and also minimizes the risk of a blackout in Ukraine, and then another wave of migration," Blaszczak stressed.
The minister also said that the Patriot air defence system will be sent to Poland from Germany. It will be located in the Lublin Voivodeship, which borders the Volyn region. Blaszczak said it was not yet known how many launchers would be handed over to Poland.
