Denza teases new electric sports car, taps James Bond star for global campaign
Denza, the premium brand of Chinese automaker BYD, has released the first official images of its upcoming sports car ahead of its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this summer.
The new model, currently referred to as the Denza Z pending final confirmation of its name, was first introduced as the Z concept at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2025. Positioned as the brand’s flagship performance vehicle, it is expected to sit above the Z9 GT shooting brake, the B5 SUV and the D9 MPV in Denza’s lineup, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Preview images show a bright orange Z displayed alongside BYD executive vice president Stella Li and actor Daniel Craig, best known for his portrayal of James Bond. The production model appears to closely follow the design language of the original concept.
Denza also announced that Craig will serve as a brand ambassador, lending his image to several key vehicles launching this year, including in marketing materials and television commercials. BYD said the partnership is intended to strengthen Denza’s presence in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
The Denza Z is expected to feature a fully electric powertrain built around a 100 kWh battery pack and three electric motors, delivering a combined output of nearly 1,000 horsepower. The model is also anticipated to include advanced technologies such as an active adaptive suspension system using magnetorheological dampers, as well as “crab mode” functionality and other high-performance driving systems.
The official unveiling will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where Denza aims to position the Z as the crown jewel of its emerging sports car range.
