Detained Venezuelan president issues first statement from US custody
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, currently in custody in the United States, has issued a public statement for the first time in a long period.
The message was published on the social media platform X.
“We have received your messages, letters, and prayers. Every word of love and support strengthens us spiritually. We are well, firm, calm, and in constant prayer,” the statement read on behalf of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

In his address, Maduro called for strengthening peace, national unity, and dialogue, stressing that Venezuela should follow a path of “reconciliation and respect.”
He also thanked the country’s citizens and “people of goodwill” around the world for their solidarity, noting that such support provides moral strength and inner resilience.
