Device explodes outside Damascus armament centre; one soldier killed, several injured VIDEO / Updated

An explosion occurred outside a Damascus armament management centre after a device was immediately secured and an attempt was made to defuse it, Syria’s Ministry of Defence Media and Communications Directorate told Syrian Arab News Agency.

The directorate said a booby-trapped vehicle detonated in the same area, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to several others, with varying degrees of severity.

An explosion has occurred in a suburb of the Syrian capital Damascus after a car bomb detonated near a military facility.

Reuters reported that a vehicle packed with explosives blew up close to the Syrian Armaments Directorate in the outskirts of the city.

A military source cited by the agency said the blast took place in the immediate vicinity of the facility.
