24 January 2025 09:05

A videoconference hosted by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan brought together approximately 1,000 Azerbaijanis from 85 countries.

The event included representatives of “Azerbaijan Houses,” coordination councils, weekend schools abroad, Azerbaijani scientists, professors from renowned universities and research centres, cultural and artistic figures, and other prominent individuals, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The meeting was dedicated to reviewing the results of 2024.

In his opening remarks, Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee, highlighted the Azerbaijani state’s diaspora policy and the initiatives undertaken in 2024. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the diaspora and expressed gratitude to those who contributed to its development. Muradov also praised the unity of Azerbaijanis worldwide, noting that their dedication to representing their country with dignity exemplifies the formation of a robust Azerbaijani diaspora.

The session featured a short video report summarizing the annual activities of the State Committee and the Azerbaijani diaspora, followed by a comprehensive discussion on the achievements of the past year.

Participants commended the numerous successes in diaspora-building efforts during 2024 and the systematic approach to promoting Azerbaijan’s national interests globally. They recognized the videoconference as a significant political platform, fostering a modern and conceptual approach to diaspora engagement.

The event also showcased performances by Azerbaijani musicians living abroad and videos prepared by diaspora representatives, “Azerbaijan Houses,” and weekend school collectives. Each performance and video received enthusiastic applause.

As part of the conference, a group of individuals who made significant contributions to diaspora activities were awarded the Azerbaijan Medal “For Merits in Diaspora Activities.”

The participants expressed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for their ongoing support and care for Azerbaijanis worldwide.

The videoconference concluded with a Q&A session, allowing diaspora representatives to address their questions and share further insights.
