Diplomat: US trying to "beat" Russia in SCO member states
Press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov has said that Russia feels the US attempts to "be in a more privileged position" in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states.
The appointment of a new US ambassador to Moscow is unlikely to improve Russia-US relations, Kommersant quotes Peskov as saying on September 15.
“They [attempts to "beat" Russia] are permanent and will be permanent. No one is going to deceive anyone here. It is impossible to pin any hopes on the US ambassador to Moscow,” he said during the press call.
US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan completed his activity in the country and left Moscow on September 4. On the same day, the US Department of State promised to announce the name of the new ambassador to Russia soon. Peskov announced in July 2022 that Russia-US relations were at a very low level to further deteriorate them.
