Donetsk region: fatalities reported after cluster munition strike PHOTO
At least six people have been killed and one injured after Russian forces struck the town of Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region with cluster munitions, local authorities said.
Vadym Filashkin, head of the regional military administration, said the attack targeted the town’s market, a location crowded in the morning hours.
“This is yet another deliberate war crime and further proof that all Russian statements about a ‘ceasefire’ are worthless,” Filashkin wrote on social media. He added that the final death toll had yet to be confirmed and that rescue teams were assisting the injured and clearing the aftermath.
The Russian strike reportedly also involved two aerial bombs, damaging an industrial zone, three apartment blocks, and three private houses, according to regional reports.
Ukraine has repeatedly accused Russia of violating ceasefires in the east of the country, where fighting has escalated despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
