DR Congo military plane crashes, killing 13

A military aircraft carrying officers of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s armed forces has crashed in the country’s southwest, killing all 13 people on board, Radio Okapi reports.

Among those killed was Lieutenant General Lucien-René Likulia Bakumi, the army’s inspector general, who was on an inspection mission.

According to Radio Okapi, the Let L-410 light aircraft was flying from the city of Kikwit to the capital, Kinshasa. Near the city of Kenge, the pilot reported technical problems and attempted to make an emergency landing, but the aircraft crashed.

There were no survivors.
