Drone strike shuts down key Iraq–Kuwait border crossing
The Al-Abdali border crossing between Iraq and Kuwait was temporarily shut down after a drone strike disrupted operations, according to Iraq’s state news agency INA.
Citing security sources, INA reported that “the Iraqi side received notification from the Kuwaiti authorities about the temporary closure of the Al-Abdali border crossing after a drone strike.”
The crossing, a key transit point between the two countries, was halted as a precautionary measure following the incident. Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding the origin of the drone or the circumstances surrounding the attack.
There is currently no confirmed information on whether the strike caused material damage to the checkpoint or surrounding infrastructure.
Officials have not indicated when operations at the crossing may resume.
