Drone strike triggers fire near Barakah NPP in UAE, no radiological impact reported
Authorities in Abu Dhabi, UAE have responded to a fire incident near the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant after a drone strike triggered a blaze in an external electrical generator outside the plant’s inner perimeter.
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported and stressed that there was no impact on radiological safety levels, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
They said precautionary measures were implemented immediately, with further updates expected as assessments continue.
The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation stated that the incident did not affect the safety of the nuclear facility or the readiness of its essential systems.
All reactor units, it added, are operating normally.
Authorities urged the public to rely only on verified information and cautioned against the spread of rumours or unverified reports.
