Dutch foreign, defence ministers make first official visit to Ukraine
The newly appointed Dutch Foreign Minister, Tom Berendsen, and Defence Minister, Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, have arrived in Kiev for their first official visit to Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, told reporters at a joint press conference with Berendsen that this marked the first international trip for both ministers since their appointments, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Sybiha highlighted that he had held his first conversation with Berendsen on 23 February, just hours after the new Dutch government took office.
“This is the first international engagement for Minister Berendsen in his new role. I am grateful to the Netherlands for sending these important political signals,” Sybiha said.
He added that the Dutch government had made international security and the development of partnership with Ukraine a priority. “We sincerely appreciate that the coalition agreement includes long-term commitments to support Ukraine,” he said.
