19 February 2026 17:22
A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded near Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, the country's Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) announced.
The earthquake struck near Alenquer, roughly 45 km (28 miles) north of Lisbon, at a depth of 15 km just after noon, Caliber.Az reports via IPMA.
"If the situation warrants it, further statements will be issued," IPMA noted.
Early seismic reports indicate the quake probably did not result in significant damage, but residents near the epicentre may have experienced mild shaking.
