Eastern Aleppo tensions flare: Syrian National Army recaptures lost posts in overnight battle VIDEO
Syrian National Army (SNA) units have successfully recaptured key military positions in the vicinity of the Tishrin Dam in the eastern Aleppo countryside after intense clashes with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), referred to by the government as the YPG/PKK terrorist factions.
The confrontations erupted on May 18 evening when SDF elements launched an incursion into the Syriatel hill area, Caliber.Az reports citing Syrian media.
A military source from the 72nd Division confirmed that the SNA effectively repelled the assault, which initially led to the temporary loss of two forward positions.
The source noted that government forces responded swiftly, deploying reinforcements and armored units to the conflict zone. After several hours of heavy fighting, Syrian troops managed to retake the occupied posts and restore full control over the area.
The Ministry of Defence has not issued an official statement regarding casualties or the broader implications of the engagement. However, local sources suggest that both sides suffered losses during the confrontation, and military activity in the area remains elevated.
