Ebola cases in DR Congo rise to 956, deaths reach 247

The number of confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) has increased to 956, with 247 deaths reported, according to the country’s Health Ministry.

In the past 24 hours, 23 new cases and two fatalities were recorded in Ituri province, which remains the epicenter of the outbreak. The region accounts for 91% of all infections, with 874 cases and 201 deaths, TASS reports.

Authorities said 391 patients are currently hospitalized or in medical isolation, while 92 people have fully recovered.

Contact tracing coverage has reached 69.3%, although the World Health Organization recommends a minimum threshold of 95% for effective outbreak control.
