Ebola cases surge in DR Congo as death toll climbs

The number of suspected deaths linked to an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has surpassed 200, the country’s Ministry of Communications and Media announced on X.
The ministry said 204 suspected deaths have been recorded, while the number of possible infections has reached 867.
The outbreak has been detected across several regions, including the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu.
Laboratory tests have so far confirmed 91 infections and 10 deaths. The main epicenter remains Ituri province, which borders Uganda. In the neighboring country, one confirmed death and five suspected infections have also been reported.
