EC pushes for price cap on all gas from Russia

The European Commission (EC) is pushing for a price cap on all gas from Russia and is demanding price band negotiations with those suppliers with whom the European Union "can negotiate."

We are talking about both pipeline Russian gas and reduced natural gas, Gazeta.ru reports referring to the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson at the Extraordinary Council of EU Energy Ministers.

“The European Commission is also ready to develop a European price cap on natural gas used to generate electricity,” Simson said.

At the same time, she recalled that the new measures should not lead to an increase in demand for gas.
