Elon Musk announces first unmanned Starship flights to Mars in two years
Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, has announced that the first unmanned Starship flights to Mars are planned for two years from now.
He also mentioned that manned flights will take another four years to materialize, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Starship, a reusable spacecraft designed for Mars missions, is capable of carrying up to 100 passengers. While prototypes have successfully completed test flights within Earth's atmosphere, they have not yet ventured into space. If Musk’s plans come to fruition, Starship will offer two key advantages that could revolutionize space exploration:
Firstly, both stages of the rocket will be reusable, with the second stage integrated into the spacecraft itself. Secondly, the Starship project includes in-orbit refuelling using tankers, allowing the rocket to deliver tens of tons of cargo to deep space.
SpaceX has also started booking seats for space tourists on future flights.
