Elon Musk deems Zelenskyy's rejection of Trump-proposed ceasefire "cruel and inhumane"
US billionaire Elon Musk, who oversees the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has said that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's rejection of an early ceasefire in the conflict in Ukraine is “cruel and inhumane.”
“What I said over 2 years ago was that Ukraine should seek peace or suffer severe loss of life for no gains. The latter was Zelensky’s choice. Now, he wants to do that again. This is cruel and inhumane,” he wrote on X, per Caliber.Az.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump has garnered significant media attention, particularly concerning his rejection of a proposed ceasefire. The meeting, held on February 28, 2025, in the Oval Office, was marked by heightened tensions and a public display of disagreement.
During the meeting, President Trump advocated for an immediate ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. In response, President Zelenskyy emphasized the necessity of robust security guarantees, expressing skepticism about Russia's commitment to honoring ceasefire agreements. This stance led to a heated exchange, with Vice President JD Vance accusing Zelenskyy of disrespect and President Trump criticizing him for being ungrateful for U.S. support. The confrontation culminated in Zelenskyy leaving the White House without signing a planned minerals agreement, marking a significant strain in U.S.-Ukraine relations.
