Elon Musk urges Germany to embrace nuclear energy for future stability
American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk has called for Germany to reconsider its stance on nuclear energy, suggesting that the country should significantly increase its reliance on atomic power.
Speaking during an online discussion on X with Alice Weidel, leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and candidate for Chancellor, Musk expressed his belief that nuclear energy would be an excellent solution for Germany's energy challenges, Caliber.Az reports.
“I think it would be right for Germany to significantly increase the share of nuclear energy. That would be wonderful,” Musk remarked.
The business magnate further criticized Germany’s decision to shut down nuclear power plants, particularly in light of the gas supply disruptions from Russia. "When I watched Germany shut down power plants after the cessation of Russian gas deliveries, I thought it was madness.
This is one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen," Musk said, emphasizing his view that the country’s energy strategy was misguided.
Musk’s comments come as he continues to attract attention in Germany, where he has garnered support from opposition groups. In a recent ranking by Frankfurter Rundschau, Musk ranked second in a list of perceived threats to Germany’s democratic system, with RT DE topping the list.
The ranking noted that RT DE had successfully cultivated a loyal audience in Germany, with the network acting as an effective propaganda tool online.
In his remarks, Musk reiterated his support for nuclear energy as a viable and essential part of Germany’s future energy strategy.
