Energy, security, friendship: Aliyev sends key message to Trump

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.

According to Caliber.Az, the details of the letter were published on the official website of Azerbaijan's head of state.

In the letter, President Aliyev expressed his warm congratulations to Trump and extended his best wishes for success in his presidency. "I am pleased to extend my sincere congratulations to you on the commencement of your term as the 47th President of the United States and wish you success in your forthcoming, responsible state endeavours for the well-being of the friendly people of America," Aliyev wrote.

He voiced confidence that Trump’s leadership would contribute significantly to advancing global peace and bolstering international security. Aliyev also highlighted the longstanding and fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, particularly in the areas of national security and combating international terrorism.

The Azerbaijani leader acknowledged the strong partnership between the two nations in the energy sector. "I highly appreciate our cooperation, which serves to ensure the energy security of the US allies, is based on positive traditions in the energy sector, and is built on solid foundations," he stated, while also expressing gratitude for the consistent support the United States has provided to Azerbaijan's energy policies.

Aliyev reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to expanding collaboration with the US across both established and emerging areas, emphasizing the mutual trust that underpins their relationship. "We are determined to continue our active and productive collaboration with the United States in both traditional and new areas of cooperation, based on mutual trust and confidence, and we look forward to working closely with you in these spheres," he noted.

The letter concluded with a hopeful vision for the future of US-Azerbaijan relations. "I believe that during your new presidency, the friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States of America will be further strengthened and enriched with new content," Aliyev wrote, wishing Trump good health, happiness, success, and peace for the American people.
