England striker Ivan Toney charged with assault over Soho nightclub incident

England international footballer Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an alleged incident at a nightclub in central London.

The 30-year-old striker, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, is accused of assaulting a person at a nightclub on Wardour Street, Soho, on December 6, 2025, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

Toney was charged on July 31, and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on  September 24.

A spokesperson for the footballer said Toney "acknowledges the charge" and, while he was "naturally shocked", he looked forward to the opportunity to clear his name in court.

Toney began his professional career with Northampton Town before joining Premier League side Newcastle United at the age of 19.

After a successful spell at Peterborough United, he moved to Brentford in 2020 and helped the club reach the Premier League for the first time, scoring a then-record 31 goals in the regular season and two more in the play-offs.

In August 2024, Toney joined Al-Ahli in a reported £40m transfer. He made his World Cup debut for England in 2026, featuring in two matches.
