Envoy: Doha strike targeted Hamas leaders behind October 7 attack
Israel has confirmed a targeted operation in Doha, Qatar, aimed at senior Hamas figures responsible for orchestrating the October 7 attacks, which left dozens dead and hostages taken.
According to Caliber.Az, Danny Danon, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, described the operation as a “precise strike” against Hamas leaders who “planned the October 7 massacre and celebrated while our citizens were abducted.”
He praised Israeli security forces for their “courageous and precise” action.
“There is no hiding place for terrorists, and we will continue to pursue them everywhere,” Danon added.
A powerful explosion shook Doha, Qatar, on September 9, in what appears to have been an Israeli airstrike targeting Hamas leadership outside Gaza. Videos circulating on social media showed plumes of smoke rising over the city.
Initial reports suggested that Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas’ chief negotiator, may have been killed. However, a senior Hamas official told Al Jazeera that the delegation, including Hayya, survived the strike unharmed.
Sources indicate that US and UK reconnaissance aircraft were operating over the area prior to the explosion, highlighting the heightened international monitoring of the incident.
