Erdoğan to Trump: Türkiye can facilitate de-escalation in Iran-Israel crisis

On June 14, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, offering Ankara’s assistance in preventing a broader regional escalation.

According to a statement from the Turkish Presidency, during the conversation, Erdoğan expressed Türkiye’s deep concern over rising tensions and stressed that the ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program remain the only viable path toward resolving the dispute peacefully, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Anadolu Agency. 

“President Erdoğan emphasised that Türkiye is closely following developments between Iran and Israel and is ready to do everything in its power to prevent an uncontrollable escalation of tensions in the region,” the statement said.

Erdoğan also voiced support for the U.S. position that diplomatic efforts and continued dialogue on Iran’s nuclear program are essential for resolving the current standoff.

The call also covered broader regional and global issues, reflecting ongoing efforts by Ankara and Washington to coordinate on critical international developments.
