Erdoğan, Trump to discuss F-35, F-16 purchase, global and regional issues
The purchase of American F-35 and F-16 fighter jets will be a key topic during the January 5 phone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump.
The call is also expected to cover regional and global developments, as well as potential new steps in international diplomacy, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The Erdoğan–Trump contact is anticipated to contribute particularly to diplomatic efforts in conflict zones.
Meanwhile, following the US operation that led to the removal of Nicolás Maduro and his wife from Venezuela, the latest developments in the country are expected to be discussed during the Erdoğan–Trump call.
Trump previously stated that Washington is exploring the possibility of selling F-35 jets to Türkiye, while expressing confidence that Ankara would not use the aircraft against Israel.
