Erdogan: Türkiye-Israel relations enter new development phase
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that relations between Türkiye and Israel have entered a new development phase thanks to the parties’ determination and will.
Erdogan made the statement in a telephone conversation with former Israeli Prime Minister, Likud Party leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been given the mandate to form the Israeli Cabinet.
Turkish Presidential Administration reported that the conversation took place on the Israeli side’s initiative, Anadolu Agency reports.
Netanyahu extended condolences to the Turkish leader in connection with the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
Referring to the situation in the region, the Israeli politician called Türkiye's mediation efforts in Russia and Ukraine "significant for the whole world".
President Erdogan thanked Netanyahu for his condolences, and for his part, he expressed regret over the incident that took place two days ago in the West Bank.
The progressing dialogue between Türkiye and Israel, based on mutual respect for interests, is in line with the positions of both countries, Erdogan noted.
The Turkish president hopes that the results of the Knesset (Parliament) elections would have a positive impact on both Israel and the region as a whole.
