Estonia unveils US financial assistance this year
The Estonian Ministry of Defence said on October 5 that the US has increased military aid to Estonia to $140.5 million in 2022.
“The increase in appropriations is envisaged by the additional budget package adopted by the US Congress last week,” Gazeta.Ru reports, citing the ministry.
According to the message, most of the amount will be spent on the Defence Forces’ M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) multiple rocket launcher programme, which is scheduled for implementation in 2025.
Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur said that the US plays a leading role in the current security crisis and, besides support for Ukraine, assistance also covered those countries that help Kyiv greatly.
According to the Estonian Ministry of Defence, the US has supported the country with $228 million over the past five years. Security assistance has been used to replenish stockpiles of large-calibre ammunition in the past.
