EU alleges Iran's ballistic missile transfers to Russia Amid Ukraine conflict
The European Union has raised concerns about Iran's involvement in transferring ballistic missiles to Russia, intended for use in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
On September 9, Peter Stano, spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy of the European Union, revealed that allies have provided credible information regarding these transfers, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
Stano's statement followed recent reports from US media, which cited anonymous sources alleging that Iran had supplied weapons to Russia for battlefield use in Ukraine.
“We have credible information from our allies indicating that ballistic missiles have been transferred from Iran to Russia,” Stano confirmed.
The EU is currently reviewing this information with its member states. Should these allegations be substantiated, the EU would consider it a significant escalation in Iran's support for Russia's "illegal war" against Ukraine. The EU's stance is clear: any confirmation of these transfers would prompt a coordinated international response, potentially including new and stringent sanctions against Iran.
Iran's Foreign Ministry has strongly denied the accusations, asserting that it is not involved in arms exports to Russia.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has not issued a denial regarding the Wall Street Journal's report about the missile transfers.
