EU begins talks to abolish visa regime with Armenia

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has said that the EU foreign ministers have decided to start negotiations with Armenia on cancelling the visa regime.

Borrel made the remarks at a press conference following the meeting of the EU foreign ministers, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

"The ministers adopted two historic decisions for relations with Armenia. They approved the decision to start negotiations on abolishing the visa regime and adopted a €10 million programme to provide military aid to Armenia from the European Peace Facility," Borrell said.

Earlier, the EU Council said that this programme envisages supplying Yerevan with tents for the Armenian army.
