EU calls member states' citizens to refrain from visiting Iran

The European Union has advised citizens of its member states to refrain from travelling to Iran.

According to TASS, the announcement came in a widespread statement by the head of the EU foreign service, Josep Borrell, following a meeting of the EU Council at the level of foreign ministers on February 20.

“Due to the serious risk to personal safety, EU countries recommend that their citizens refrain from travelling to Iran,” the text reads, adding the EU completely rejects Iran's practice of unjustified detention of EU citizens and persons with dual citizenship of EU states and Iran.
