Zelenskyy: Russia launches 101 drones in overnight attack on Ukraine
Russia launched 101 drones in a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine, most of them Iranian-designed Shahed drones, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement on July 7.
The strikes triggered air raid sirens across multiple regions and caused significant damage, with rescue operations continuing in the Donetsk and Dnipro regions, Caliber.Az reports.
In Kharkiv, emergency crews are clearing rubble from residential apartment buildings hit during the assault.
At least 27 people were injured, including three children. The youngest victim is a three-year-old girl. Three people have been hospitalised, and one person was killed in a separate attack on Odesa.
“This past week alone, around 1,270 drones, 39 missiles, and nearly a thousand glide bombs were used against our country,” Zelenskyy said, describing the attacks as part of a growing and relentless aerial campaign.
He reiterated calls for international partners to uphold military support agreements, emphasizing the urgent need for air defence systems.
“Air defense is the key to saving lives,” Zelenskyy stressed, adding that Ukraine is also ramping up domestic weapons production, with a special focus on interceptor drones.
The Ukrainian president thanked all of the country’s allies.
