EU commission chief to attend "Coalition of the Resolute" meeting in Paris
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will join a meeting of the “Coalition of the Resolute” in Paris on January 6, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
The summit will bring together leaders from coalition countries to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
The Commission’s chief spokesperson, Paula Pinheiro, confirmed von der Leyen’s participation, saying she would travel to Paris tomorrow to take part in the discussions.
After the Paris meeting, von der Leyen is set to visit Nicosia on January 7 to mark the start of Cyprus’s presidency of the European Council.
The gathering in Paris is expected to finalise security assurances for Ukraine, amid President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s calls for a Western military presence on Ukrainian soil. Zelenskyy is also reportedly planning a visit to Cyprus on January 7.
