EU Commission president congratulates Pashinyan

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his electoral victory, praising Armenia’s democratic trajectory and reiterating the European Union’s support for closer ties.

“Dear Nikol Pashinyan, congratulations on your electoral victory. The spirit of the Velvet Revolution you led in 2018 is alive and well," she wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.

We deeply value our partnership with a democratic Armenia that is drawing ever closer to Europe.

She added that the EU “deeply values” its partnership with Armenia, describing it as a democratic country “drawing ever closer to Europe,” and concluded: “Armenia can count on us.”

The Central Electoral Commission has released the preliminary results of the vote count from all polling stations in the parliamentary elections held on June 7.
