EU continues blocking illegal migration from Belarus

Lithuanian border guards prevented 16 illegal migrants from entering the country from Belarus over the past 24 hours, according to Delfi, citing the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service (VSAT).

Meanwhile, Latvia’s border service blocked 18 migrants on March 29, while Polish authorities reported no border violations during the same period.

Last year, Lithuanian border guards prevented over 1,600 illegal crossings, and so far in 2026, 135 attempts have been stopped. Since the start of the migration crisis triggered by Belarusian actions, a total of 24,600 unauthorised migrants have been prevented from entering Lithuania.
