EU defence ministers to discuss military aid to Ukraine in Brussels

EU defence ministers will meet in Brussels on September 28 to discuss military support for Ukraine and hybrid threats from Russia, according to the press service of the European Council.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara will join the EU ministerial meeting, which will be chaired by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

Following the Ukrainian defence minister’s address via videoconference, the Council will focus on air defence, the EU mission to train Ukrainian servicemen, industrial cooperation and efforts to counter Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet.”

EU ministers will also exchange views on hybrid threats and the situation in the Middle East. Defence procurement will also be discussed.

The meeting will begin in the morning. It will be preceded by a meeting of the European Defence Agency, which will also be chaired by Kallas.
