EU diplomat chef Borrell fears Serbian, Kosovo accession to union not likely
Following the failure of direct talks between Kosovo and Serbia on September 13 to improve their long-strained relations, EU's Josep Borrell warned, that the lack of progress could hurt their hopes of joining the bloc.
As reported by AP, the EU foreign policy chief, who supervised the talks in Brussels, blamed the latest breakdown on Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s insistence that Serbia should essentially recognize his country before progress can be made on enforcing an agreement they reached in February.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also blamed Kurti, stating after the meeting, that "Kurti did not want to accept it and the meeting ended” and expressed hope for a solution to the conflict.
Kurti, on the other hand, blamed Vucic for “sabotaging” the talks and accussed EU diplomat Borrell to be siding with Serbia.
