EU has poured €220 billion into Ukraine since 2022, bloc says

24 August 2026 18:13

The European Union and its member states have provided Ukraine with €220.3 billion in financial, economic, military and humanitarian assistance since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, according to figures published by the Council of the EU on August 24.

Of the total, €107 billion has been allocated from the EU budget or backed by EU guarantees, while €77 billion has been provided in military assistance.

A further €17 billion has been used to support Ukrainian refugees in the EU, with member states contributing €15.5 billion directly.

Another €3.8 billion has been financed through revenues generated by Russian assets frozen in the EU.

The figures come as the European Commission approved a further €6.1 billion for Ukraine to purchase military equipment.

The new funding will go towards air defence systems, missiles, ammunition and radar equipment, as Kyiv continues efforts to strengthen its defences against Russian attacks.
