EU launches Team Gaza initiative for reconstruction of enclave
The European Union has announced the launch of the international Team Gaza initiative aimed at supporting the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
According to the European Commission, the decision was taken during the second meeting of the Palestine Donors Group in Brussels, attended by representatives of 65 countries and international organisations, Caliber.Az reports.
Under the initiative, €883.6 million will be allocated to reconstruction projects.
The funds are expected to be used to restore water and sanitation systems, clear debris, manage waste, and support the healthcare, energy, agriculture and food security sectors.
In addition, EU member states and partners signed new agreements to provide an additional €41.7 million in assistance to the Palestinian Authority through the PEGASE mechanism.
The European Commission also confirmed previously announced funding of €310 million for 2026-2027.
