EU Parliament investigates lawmaker over Russian forum attendance

Romanian Member of the European Parliament Diana Șoșoacă is facing an internal investigation over her participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

A complaint filed against Șoșoacă is expected to be reviewed next week by a specialized committee of the European Parliament, Digi24 TV channel reports.

Șoșoacă told the broadcaster that there are “no grounds for an investigation” against her.

In a separate case, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has requested that the institution’s supervisory body examine whether Luxembourg MEP Fernand Kartheiser violated the code of conduct in connection with meetings with Russian officials.
