EU provides additional €30 million to Ukraine’s energy support fund

08 August 2026 15:44

The European Union has provided an additional €30 million to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund, bringing the bloc’s total contribution to €279 million, Ukraine’s Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

The funding will support efforts to restore energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks, purchase critical equipment for energy companies and maintain reliable electricity supplies, particularly for critical infrastructure, Shmyhal said, Caliber.Az reports.

“The funds provided through this financial instrument help us restore energy infrastructure damaged by russian attacks, purchase critical equipment for our energy companies, and ensure reliable energy supply, particularly to critical infrastructure,” Shmyhal wrote on X.

He said the scale of damage to Ukraine’s energy system remained significant, noting that energy workers had been restoring electricity supplies to 4-5 million consumers each month over recent months.

Shmyhal added that the need for additional equipment and financial support was growing as Ukraine prepared for the upcoming winter.

“The EU remains one of Ukraine’s key partners, including in the energy sector. We are grateful to the European Commission and the European Union for their continued and substantial support for Ukraine’s energy system,” he said.
