EU ready to provide Ukraine with electricity in case of shortage

The European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, has said that the European Union is ready to provide Ukraine with electricity in case of a shortage.

The EU has synchronized the Ukrainian energy network with the network of continental Europe in March, the Ukrainian UNIAN reports citing Simson.

"In this system, electricity can be transmitted in both directions. This means that Ukraine can both export and import electricity from the EU", she said.
