EU’s foreign policy chief: Middle East situation reaches critical level
EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has written that the situation in the Middle East reached a critical level of dangerosity, for the region and beyond.
"The situation in the Middle East has reached a critical level of dangerosity, for the region and beyond. I support Lebanon PM Mikati call for the immediate application of UNSCR 1701, in addition to the much-needed ceasefire in Gaza, to conjure the risk of a full blown war," he wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Borrell also emphasised his support for the Lebanese government's call for the immediate implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, along with the urgently needed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, to prevent the risk of a full-scale war.
Previously, Borrell stated that while the European Union may not be a direct party to the Ukrainian conflict, it is a significant part of it. In his view, resolving the conflict will impact the peace and security of the EU.
