EU’s high rep heading to Ukraine for talks
EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has announced that he will visit Ukraine in the coming days to discuss continued support for Kyiv amid Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election.
Borrell emphasised the need for unwavering support for Ukraine: "We must continue supporting Ukraine together, regardless of the circumstances, and fulfill our commitments," he said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He added that his upcoming visit to Ukraine would focus on discussions with Ukrainian authorities regarding the continuation of assistance and the further steps in their cooperation.
On November 3, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola proposed the creation of a European Defense Union. Metsola thinks that such a union, focused on security and defence, would complement NATO's efforts.
She added that EU member states must be prepared to face any dangers by relying on their own capabilities. The idea of establishing a common EU army has also been supported by Borrell.
Earlier, Borrell emphasised that defence issues should become the primary focus of EU policy moving forward.
