EU sanctions Iranian judges, cyber group figure

25 July 2026 11:06

The European Union has imposed new restrictive measures on Iranian judges accused of serious human rights violations and a leading figure linked to a cyber group allegedly involved in the repression of information, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said.

“While the world’s attention is on the war in the Middle East, we can’t lose sight of Iran’s repression against its own people," she wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.

She said the EU had sanctioned Iranian judges responsible for serious human rights violations, including the persecution of political dissidents and religious minorities, as well as a leading figure of a cyber group that had enabled the Iranian authorities’ repression of information.

"Today, the EU imposed new restrictive measures on Iranian judges responsible for serious human rights violations, including the persecution of political dissidents and religious minorities. We also sanctioned a leading figure of a cyber group who enabled the regime’s repression of information," Kallas wrote.

She added that as Tehran intensified its domestic crackdown, the EU would continue holding those responsible to account.
